Traditional Spanish pottery egg cups


Spanish traditional pottery might not be as internationally well known as the pottery from some neighboring countries, but it is nevertheless a very interesting field that should be explored by any egg cup lover: even if Spain does not have a very strong reputation for egg cups, collectors could be surprised to see how many of them exist, and how nice they can be. This selection brings together some pieces illustrative of different traditions present in the territory, for your personal pleasure. All pieces are, of course, hand-made.

Modern design metal egg cups



It started during the 80's, but it was far more popular in the 90's: the urge to possess and design metal egg cups that looked like anything but egg cups. As long that an egg could be put there, the object should be considered an egg cup. Afterwards, the big revolution came from Italy and it consisted in mixing metal with plastic, bringing some colour and plenty of fun to the cold world of stainless steel.

Modern design plastic egg cups

We start our visit through the collection with one of the materials more widely used by contemporary egg cup designers: plastic. Here we can see a selection of design egg cups coming from different European countries. Some were sold in expensive design shops, but one of them was bought at a supermarket. It's probably not too difficult to guess which one.
