Wing series egg cups

Plastic egg cups created and sold by the Wing company can be seen as one of the first attempts to increase the value of plastic pieces in general. Originally marketed to children and featuring sometimes very famous characters, they always had exclusive "registered designs" and are nowadays very popular with collectors, who give special attention to their condition. As it can be seen in the present collection, Wing concentrated mainly on two types of models: the cylindrical and the anthropomorphic ones.

Famous characters: transfer egg cups

How can a very normal egg cup be transformed into a highly desirable and/or collectable object? Try putting a picture transfer of a world famous TV or cartoon character on it. If impossible, a locally famous TV or cartoon character might work as well. The French company Tropico Diffusion sells a wide range of products featuring famous characters and registered marks. And it looks like they love to use their licenses to create figural ceramic egg cups. Actually, they did produce at least one footed (non figural) egg cup a long time ago, but over the years they have been specialising in figural ones, with a recurrent tendency to explore the possibilities of having the famous character next to some object where the soft-boiled egg can rest.
